Campaign Now Ongoing
Under the American Sun (Camp Roxas Film Project) has surged forward in the last seven years with the support of local and federal grants, private donations from the Camp Roxas community and personal funds. The project requires at least $50,000 for post-production costs to expand the film to 60-minute documentary. All funds donated to this film project will be used toward the completion of the film.

Your donation will make you a part of a rare undocumented history of the Filipino labor experience which someday will be heralded as a pioneering historical work in the Asian-Pacific experience. (Campaign ends Dec. 20, 2013)

6 a.m. - We received this wonderful message via Facebook from a donor who wishes to remain anonymous:

I really don't want any recognition or thanks because I feel this film needs the support it deserves, especially for the generation of young people that don't know how hard our fathers and grandfathers worked coming here to the island back then. I just want their stories to be told. . .Thank you, and I hope the project reaches its goal.

6 p.m. - Bernie Schumann attends the final night of the Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal novena, hosted by Uncle Johnny and Auntie Aida Luces, in Agat. After prayers were said, a candlelight procession with the Atiatihan drummers was held through the streets of Agat.  The statue of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, which once graced the Camp Roxas chapel, was mounted on a pickup truck. Imagine, 40 years after Camp Roxas closed, residents of Agat/Santa Rita still remember the patroness of Camp Roxas. Of course, a great fiesta dinner followed. Thank you, everyone, for your kind hospitality.

Heard from my nephew, Norman Analista, about the latest Camp Roxas project.  Please continue to keep me posted on your activities.  As you may know, my parents were in Camp Roxas in the late '40s and early '50s before they moved on to Guam Memorial Hospital and the U.S. Trust Territory government

I have lots of other photos to share from Mom and Dad, if you want.  Who is on the CR Project?  Looking forward to hearing more from you.  Many thanks.
