Campaign Now Ongoing
Under the American Sun (Camp Roxas Film Project) has surged forward in the last seven years with the support of local and federal grants, private donations from the Camp Roxas community and personal funds. The project requires at least $50,000 for post-production costs to expand the film to 60-minute documentary. All funds donated to this film project will be used toward the completion of the film.
Your donation will make you a part of a rare undocumented history of the Filipino labor experience which someday will be heralded as a pioneering historical work in the Asian-Pacific experience. (Campaign ends Dec. 20, 2013)

4 p.m. - Today a former resident called and said, "I read about the Camp Roxas gathering at the Agat Weekly Market in the newspaper. I stayed in the camp for about five years. I really want to go tomorrow but my wife is too sickly. We are the only two in the house."
He thanked me for remembering them. He also said that Burt Sardoma, Sr., was his witness when he and his wife were married in the Camp Roxas chapel and was happy to hear that his son, Burt S. Sardoma Jr., is directing the film project. "Please tell Burt, Sr., I said hello."
After I hung up, there was a lump in my throat, from joy, knowing that he was grateful him and his friends are being remembered after all. I immediately called Burt. I told Burt: "I bet tomorrow, the Agat sunset will be a glorious one."
