Campaign Now Ongoing
Under the American Sun (Camp Roxas Film Project) has surged forward in the last seven years with the support of local and federal grants, private donations from the Camp Roxas community and personal funds. The project requires at least $50,000 for post-production costs to expand the film to 60-minute documentary. All funds donated to this film project will be used toward the completion of the film.
Your donation will make you a part of a rare undocumented history of the Filipino labor experience which someday will be heralded as a pioneering historical work in the Asian-Pacific experience. (Campaign ends Dec. 20, 2013)

- I'm very proud to be a producer on Under the American Sun, a 60-minute documentary focusing on the epic migration of laborers from Iloilo to Guam immediately after WWII. It's an epic journey marked by courage, faith, sacrifice and family. This is a story that must be told. Please check out the project, and consider contributing. - Aleks Munoz
- Thank you for supporting the film, Aujean Lee! Hurry back home so we can play more card games together. - Alfred Peredo Flores
Facebook comments regarding this Camp Roxas post from youtube:
- Some parallels with what many Chamorros are thinking. Didn't hear on this clip anything about whether Filipinos consider themselves Pacific Islanders or not. - Father Eric Forbes
- Interesting - Veronica C. Garrido
- The search for the Chamorro self identity in U.S. mainland Chamorro communities is similiar to the Filipino-American experience. - Camp Roxas
On the Filipino-American experience on Guam:
- I've ideals and beliefs like an American. I should. I was born and raised on American soil. There are so many ethnic-American groups. Basic kindness to all is a great practice, and the division concept is truly inherent in the Filipino culture from the P.I., when the Spaniards and even Chinese (more Spain, though) came into the picture. We, individually, and maybe collectively now that we're aware, have a choice to adhere to this "division concept." When you bring this to the U.S., you are not quite "American" yet! Ha! - Desiree Cataluna
