These photographs were taken at the regular Sunday social gatherings held after mass. Members of the Ilonggo community, mostly former Camp Roxas residents, families and friends, would enjoy a potluck lunch set on homemade wooden tables behind the Camp Roxas chaplain's quarters. Others would play mahjongg and cards until late afternoon or early evening.

Most events took place under the tin-roofed extension seen in the background of the photos. For larger gatherings, a U.S. Navy Surplus parachute would be erected under the large mango tree with the help of a tall wooden pole. The ends of the parachute would be tied to the mango tree and adjacent wood-and-tin structures. Light bulbs strung on long extension cords provided lighting for evening events. Handmade wooden benches were used for seating.
